This page explains how we research, write and update what you read on CatAdviceHub, and how we choose the products and books we recommend.

Who we are

CatAdviceHub is written by a small team of cat owners. Our resident cat, Lokee, is a 17-year-old backyard rescue on a vet-directed kidney diet, which is why senior-cat care gets special attention here. We are not veterinarians.

How we check facts

  • Health, behavior and care facts are checked against primary veterinary and welfare sources, such as the Cornell Feline Health Center, the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), the ASPCA, International Cat Care and the AVMA.
  • We link to our sources so you can read them yourself.
  • We don’t invent experience. If we haven’t tried something with our own cat, we don’t claim we have.
  • Numbers (ages, amounts, schedules) are taken from the source, not from memory.

Health topics

For anything medical, we explain what’s known and when to call your vet. We never tell you what to feed a sick cat, how to dose medication, or how to treat a condition at home. Lokee’s kidney diet was chosen by her veterinarian, and we describe it that way.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help with research and first drafts, and for behind-the-scenes work like sitemaps and image optimization. Every article is then reviewed, fact-checked against sources and edited by our team before it’s published.

How we choose products

  • We start with what a cat needs, based on veterinary guidance (for example, litter box size or scratching post height).
  • We compare options against those needs and explain the trade-offs.
  • We only recommend products we would consider for our own cat.
  • We don’t accept paid placements, sponsored reviews or free products in exchange for coverage.
  • Some links are Amazon affiliate links. That never changes what we recommend. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

How we review books

We read every book we review and judge it on how practical and accurate it is. Health advice in a book is checked against veterinary sources before we recommend it.

Updates and corrections

Each article shows the date it was last updated. If we find a mistake, or a source changes its guidance, we correct the article and update that date. If you spot something wrong, please tell us through our contact page.
